This is a good drill to help players score versus pressure.

1 on 1 Defence - Hip Turn

One of the most difficult situations for defenders is to stay with a great change of direction move by a driver.  Many coaches teach a drop step but movement specialist, Lee Taft, strongly advocates the use of a "hip turn." 

Continuous 1-on-1

Players need to play 1-on-1 in practice and in workouts.  In continuous 1-on-1 there is no "checking up top." 

Baseline Drive and Follow to Closeout

This drill combines movement off penetration, defensive closeouts and 1 on 1 play. O1 begins at the top and passes to O2 on the wing. 

1 on 1 Play - Sweeps

One of the goals of pressure defence is to force offensive players with the ball to turn away from the defender. If the defender succeeds and forces the offensive player to pivot away, the offensive player sees less of the floor. To prevent this from occurring

Dribble Jab into Jumper

As players move up in levels of play many develop many 1 on 1 skills without being taught.  Simply by playing, and experimenting, creative athletes can develop an array of dribble moves that can be more effective than those taught by a coach. The dribble jab is not often taught to players but is extremely effective for a player who can both drive and shoot well. Steve Nash is obviously such a player.
