Pick-up and Chase
Most young athletes love pursuit games. "Pick-up and Chase" helps young athletes work on their speed, while dribbling and shooting lay-ups. It also can help them realize the benefits of faking.
Stay in Front Drill
As has been discussed many times in this section of the Coaches Clipboard, it is important for Steve Nash Youth League coaches to spend time in every practice improving the athleticism and movement skills of the children under their supervision.
Organization and Teaching
Coaches of young athletes often look for strategies to assist them in the organization of their practice sessions. How do I get my athletes to listen? How do I get my athlete's attention?
Positive Coaching/Teaching
One goal for all coaches is to have their players return to the sport for the next season. This is goal is especially applicable to youth coaches. It is very disturbing that 70% of kids drop of sports by the age of 13 and never return.
Scoring Move-Spin
The spin is very effective when the post player is being tightly guarded or against a physical post defender.
