Teaching the 3 Man Weave

One of the most popular drills in basketball is the 3 Player Weave.  It is a common warm-up drill because it employs the skills of running, passing, and catching with lay-ups.

3 Player Weave Back to 2 on 1

This drill can be used for elite level teams and by youth teams. The drill begins with O1, O2 and O3 weaving down the floor.

Circle Dribble Chase Game

Circle Dribble Chase is a fun drill for youth players that combine passing, dribbling, and competition.  Place cones or chairs around the outside to form a big circle.

Rebound and 1/4 Turn/Rebound and Outlet Drill

A critical aspect of basketball is rebounding.  For young players the ability to rebound the ball at the peak of their jump, protect the ball and then outlet the ball is very challenging.

Maravich Drills

Basketball Hall of Fame member, the late Pete Maravich was taught this group of ball-handling drills by his father Press.  Known as the "Maravich Drills", these are a fun way for kids to become more familiar with the ball and improve their coordination, hand quickness and dribbling ability.

Communication Passing Drill

This drill is taken from the New Zealand Coaching Resource. The purpose is to get kids to communicate with each other in a fun drill. The drill also forces kids to multi-task because they will have to move, talk, and pass the ball.
